  뇌종양이란 뇌와 뇌조직에서 생긴 종양을 지칭하는 말이다. 그러나 대개 넓은 의미로 사용할 경우에는 머리뼈속의 공간인 두개강속에 생기는 모든 종양을 이르는 말로 사용된다.

1. 골의 양성 거대세포종. 골의 양성 종양의 하나로 노약자에게 많으며 발생 부위는 장관골의 골단에 많이 나타난다. 조직학적으로 원형, 방추형이 있다. 세포 사이에 파골세포와 유사한 거대세포가 혼재한다. 2. 건초의 양성 거대세포종. 본래 종양이 아니며, 결정성 건초염을 가리키며 건초의 섬유성 조직구종에 포함된다.

방광 종양

방광 벽의 각 조직에 발생하는 종양. 유두종, 선종, 근종, 피부양종, 지방종, 혈관종 등 양성인 것과 암, 육종 등 악성인 것이 있으며, 약 10 %만이 양성이고 대부분이 악성으로 발생 원인은 불명이다. 특정 기호 음료나 약물의 장기 연용 등에 의하는 것과 아닐린계 약품을 취급하는 공장 근로자에게서 보게 되는 직업 암이 주목되고 있다. 또한 방광 종양은 중년 이후에 잘 발생되며 여자보다 남자에게 많다. 초기 증세는 혈뇨를 보이다가 저절로 멎으며, 이런 일이 반복되는 동안에 방광염, 신우신염을 병발하여 배뇨통, 빈뇨, 혈농뇨와 요통이 나타난다. 때로는 방광 안에 응혈이 생기고 방광 출구에 종양이 생겨 배뇨 장애가 오기도 한다. 방광경 검사로 진단하며, 침윤성이 강하므로 조기 진단 및 조기 치료가 바람직하다. 치료법으로는 여러 가지 비뇨기과적 수술법과 방사선 요법이 있으며, 종양의 성상과 환자의 연령 및 전신 상태 등에 따라서 이 두 가지를 적당히 섞어 치료하는 치료법을 사용한다. 악성인 경우 방치하면 할수록 방광의 주변 및 멀리 떨어진 부위에도 전이하여 치유되기 어려워진다. 재발하기 쉬운 질환이므로 치료 후에도 1년에 3회 정도 반영구적으로 정기 검진을 받아야 하며, 혈뇨가 나타나면 즉시 진찰을 받도록 한다.
